A-Camp Packing List

Let’s start packing!! If you’ve been to a regular summer camp before, you probably already know the drill -- but although Camp Ramah is cabins and not tents, it’s definitely not a hotel, so prepare to bring all your own everythings! Please remember to check the highs and lows for Ojai, CA and be prepared for cool nights and possibly hot days.

Please note: Any snacks coming into camp must be kosher and nut-free and kept in tightly sealed containers. There are LOTS of insects and animals up near camp. Please do not ruin everyone else’s experience by inviting them inside.

If you ordered linens, you will get sheets, a blanket, a pillow and pillowcase, a towel and a washcloth. If you need more towels or bedding, bring ‘em.

There will be no store stop on shuttles, so if you need items from a store, they’ll have to be picked up by a cabin-mate with a car.

Items to Bring:

  • Toiletries

  • Requisite beauty/hair-care/hygiene products

  • Medicines you might need including allergy medicine (sometimes a new location means new allergies)

  • Insect Repellent

  • 2+ pairs of long pants

  • 3+ t-shirts/short sleeve shirts (you’ll be getting a camp t-shirt to wear as well)

  • 1 long-sleeved shirt

  • Shorts or skirt

  • Warm socks

  • Regular socks

  • Underpants

  • Pajamas

  • Comfortable shoes

  • Warm sweater or sweatshirt(s) for nighttime

  • Cash (some workshops require an added fee, Autostraddle merch)

  • Sunglasses

  • Water Bottle (Be prepared to drink lots and lots of water!)

  • Sunscreen

  • Bathing Suit (if you wanna go in the pool)

  • Towel (Yours is probably way softer and way bigger)

  • Shower shoes

  • Extra blanket (it can get cold at night)

Good to have extras that are not required:

  • Reading material

  • Journal and pen

  • Headphones/ear plugs - if you’re a light sleeper, we suggest putting a white noise app on your phone. There are a lot of people in these cabins so the chances that somebody will be a snorer are pretty high.

  • Fancy Costumes or Dress Up Clothes (GO WILD, ONE TIME SOMEONE DRESSED UP AS A T-REX)

  • There’s an underground nightclub at camp if you like to wear certain clothes to that kind of thing

  • You’ll be sharing a bathroom with a LOT of people, so we recommend bringing a hand-mirror if you need it for makeup or hair. There will also be a shower house with extra mirrors/prep space if needed.

  • Hiking shoes
